Little sketches...

I am still recovering from a cold, actually, one of the worst cold I've had in a long time. It seems that probably half the company got it too this year, thanks to our state of the art air conditioning :) ...
Anyway, thought I'd post those sketches I've done of my little Yuko a few weeks ago while at the restaurant.

Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows (part 1)

I haven't posted much lately, so here are a few concepts I've made back at MPC nearly 2 years ago for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The first one was for Bathilda (actually "Nagini-Bathilda"). The idea was to design one of the steps of her transformation into the snake: the skin would peel off like a snake's skin and the eyes would slowly die out...
I had already left MPC (to Dneg) by the time this sequence was finalised and on screen, the transformation is actually fairly quick.
The sketches are researches for Voldemort's Horcruxes: the brief I had been given at the time was describing a less ethereal entity than the one which ended up in the movie (which I think is probably more adequate and sinister than my version).
I have done a few more concepts for this movie last year and am currently working on some more for the last episode as well a a few other projects.
Hope you guys enjoyed those pictures :)

Big horns buddy...

Just a little "demon type creature" that I've sketched last week while pitching on a new movie for Double Negative. This sketch has absolutely nothing to do with the movie though...
I guess it's easy to get sidetracked :)
You might have noticed that the dark demon version is very painful to the eyes because of the white background but he's a demon after all, he's not meant to be nice with us poor humans with our weak little eyes.

Otagi temple...

A little sketch I've done a few weeks ago during our trip to Japan.
There are 1200 small stone statues in the surrounding gardens of this temple (near Kyoto) and every single one of them has got a different face.
It is said that if you look for it, you will find your own face...

Dogo Argentino studies

Here are some studies from ref that I've done a couple of months ago.
An illustration should have followed those sketches... it was part of our very organized and clever plan (at the time) with my friend Simon to make an illustration/week, but I guess we both got sidetracked because it never happened...
Maybe some time soon...

Should I also mention that this was only the third one of a list... of 100!

Oh well...

Jungle, green, mosquitos, more green... and a sword.

Very busy at the moment so I only had time for a jungle doodle :)

Homage to "The Iron Giant"

It wasn't originally meant to be an homage but after a few people told me "oh it's the Iron Giant isn't it?" I didn't really have a choice :)
Gotta watch it again soon!

IRON MAN 2

Hi guys, I haven't posted for a while
but here are some of the concepts I've done at Double Negative vfx for the movie Iron Man 2. I had the chance to get some of my work published in "The Art of Iron Man 2" book :)
Some of them are the usual digital paintings while others are look development concepts digitally painted on top of a plate or a render to define the look of a particular shot. It is entirely done with Photoshop (apart from the sketches). I hope you guys will enjoy it and congratulations to the team at DNeg who has done such an amazing job on the very challenging "Monaco Grand Prix" sequence! ;)

The pirate ship and the seagulls...

We started this list with my friends Simon and Neil the other day: it is a list of things to draw (a 100!!), a fun exercise :) The first line of the list says: "A Pirate or a Viking ship at sea" so here it is!
Only 99 more to go...

New Year's Eve in Florence

We just came back with Yuko from a few days trip to Florence for New Year's Eve: beautiful and inspiring city. Just one thing though: it's been raining almost all the time, but hey it's still better than the rain in London isn't it? :)
